(Healthy) Snack Time

It’s the middle of the week and perhaps you’ve hit a rut, a wall, a slump; whatever the case there’s nothing like a midweek pick-me-up snack. They don’t call it “hump day” for nothing. Between early morning yoga classes and cardio sculpt, it is important to stay nourished and feed your body fuel that helps it produce energy, not reduce energy. Life is busy, and when we are all doing our best to stay as healthy as possible, quick and easy go-to recipes can ease stress while keeping health goals in check. Here are two snacks we are nibbling on come Wednesday, or any day really.

Honey Toast:

One slice of fresh whole grain bread. If you are gluten-free we suggest srsly ; a favorite of (O2 founder) Brittany’s.

2 tablespoons of Kite Hill cream cheese

Drizzle of honey

Top with sliced figs or fruit of choice

*For an extra boost sprinkle ground flaxseed and chia seeds on top

Toast the bread lightly so it is warm with a crisp

Spread the cream cheese

Drizzle honey on top

Homemade Hummus + Veggies:

1 ½ cups of organic chickpeas

1 clove of garlic

Juice of one large lemon

Zest of one large lemon

½ cup of organic tahini

1 teaspoon of cumin

Salt to taste

Blend all in food processor, or blender, until smooth

Slice up some of your favorite veggies to dip!
